It’s another edition of Unnecessary Snow Report Censorship, where we bleep your words whether they need it or not… and they never do. #thesnowreport
For this episode of the Snapshot, we visit Loon Mountain Resort where the snowguns are pumping out snow whenever weather allows. And this year, the First Class Beginner’s Weekend allows first-time skiers ages 13+ to take a lesson, get comfortably fitted by a professional boot tech and experience the mountain. At the end of the weekend, you’ll leave with the skis, bindings, and boots you learned on.
Cold weather is moving in, the temps are dropping, snowmakers are punching in and snow is falling from the sky. Winter is upon us and the race to open is underway. Sunday River was the first to put an Opening Day on the calendar, marking Monday Oct. 19th as the start of ski season. Less than 24 hours later, the Beast of the East, Killington Resort announced it would also be opening… a day earlier… for season pass holders and then to the general public on Monday.
On the other side of the country, Copper Mountain, Arapahoe Basin and Loveland have also been in the snowmaking game. The cold weather has been a little more allusive in the Rockies, but it’s only a matter of time before the temps drop, the snow flies and we’re making turns.
