Over the last few months, Vail Resorts has been making headlines and major moves in the ski business. First, they shocked us by purchasing Whistler Blackcomb earlier this summer and just a few months ago, the announcement of acquiring Stowe Mountain Resort.

After seeing the success at Fernie Alpine Resort in British Columbia, Copper Mountain is becoming the first ski resort in the United States to adopt the Avalanche Cat program. As it turns out, there is an overwhelming uptick of dog allergies in the U.S. and by offering avalanche cats as an alternative, Copper Mountain can continue providing topnotch safety efforts without asthmatic aftermath.
